About Pride
Part I: Icarus revisited
This is the story of the Tower of Babel. But it could have happened in Moscow, New York, Jerusalem, or Springfield.
This is the story from a long time ago, but it could have happened ten years ago, yesterday, tomorrow.
There lived a man who knew his strengths and had a vision. As he went through life, he acquired tools and expertise that would allow him to make that vision a reality. Eventually, he set on a path to accomplish it.
People around him could not understand what he was doing, but they felt that it was something great. Some were saying that he was building a tower to get closer to God. Others were saying that he was flying to the Sun. Perhaps, they were right. Perhaps, they misunderstood.
But a man knew and that was enough.
This story has a banal ending. A man fell. People commented. Some thought that they saw an explosion, others argued that a man was not that great in the first place. And as they talked him over, they forgot about him.
